Nation

A nation is a large group of people united by common origin, history, culture, ethnicity, or language, who inhabit a particular state or territory.

Stalin defines the nation as “a historically constituted and stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life and psychological structure that are manifested in a common culture” in Marxism and the national question. It results in people living together for many generations.

The nation is a cultural-political community. Compared to ethnicity, the nation is seen as more impersonal, abstract, and overtly political.

The term nation is also used synonymously with country and state. When used in this way, it refers mostly to a region. When a nation has its own country or territory, it is called a nation-state.

country

The country is an area of land controlled by its own government. A country can also be inhabited by more than one nation. The United States of America is an example of this type of country.

The country is primarily a political and geographical concept. A country can be an independent sovereign state or a territory occupied by another state as a non-sovereign or formerly sovereign political division.
